New data from SatisFacts Research shows renters have a baseline for apartment living. That just so happens to be a 3.82 rating out of 5 stars, according to the Biennial Online Renter Study, now in its 12th year.

Reviews are an important factor when it comes to choosing a new place to live, and nearly two-thirds of residents said online reviews were a contributing factor in their decision. The most helpful factors were detailed information within the review and that the review was from a verified, current resident.

Communication forms also changed since the last study two years ago. More than 71% of residents said they prefer text communication, which is up more than 10% from the last report. Meanwhile, cell phone communication is at roughly 60% but is down more than 14% from two years ago.
