Benjamin Moore Announces 2016 Color of the Year

2015 was a vibrant year for color, featuring selections such as the wine-infused Masala from Pantone and Sherwin-Williams’ tropical coral reef. For 2016, though, Benjamin Moore is going in a different direction. Its color of the year? Simply White.

Although it may seem plain on the surface, white has a surprising number of variations, ranging from warm, beige-like tones to cool, frosty hues. This shade is only one of 250 white options that Benjamin Moore provides.

Its crisp coloring can instantly make spaces look bigger and brighter. But even white has its limits: The color works best in areas that receive ample sunlight; otherwise, it can look dreary. And even subtle variations can make a big difference. As with any paint color, it’s best to test paints in real time rather than relying solely on digital technology.
