The share of residents looking for furnished apartments has skyrocketed. According to new data from CORT, 77% of survey respondents would consider a furnished apartment if they were to move in the next 12 months. That’s up from 37% just last year and 25% in 2021.

"The demand for furnished apartments is, once again, on the rise, and we are witnessing a shift in the needs of consumers,” said Pete Regules, Vice President of Residential National Accounts, in a release. “There is a clear 'Generation Flex' emerging, with an increasing number of individuals embracing rental options and seeking freedom in their living arrangements.”

Roughly five out of six respondents between the ages of 25-34 said they would be interested in furnished apartments. Slightly higher was the 35-44 cohort at 85%. More than three-fourths of respondents between 18-24 and 45-54 would consider a furnished apartment. Just over two-thirds of the 55-64 age group showed interest in furnished apartments.

"Renting furniture provides a practical and cost-effective solution for those who want to avoid the costs and hassles to purchase, move, and maintain their own furniture,” said Jeff Rowe, Executive Vice President of Residential Sales, in the release.
