Renters are putting their feelers out to place down roots in the Midwest. According to the November Rental Activity Report from RentCafe, Minneapolis is the most sought-after city. Detroit was third, Cincinnati was fourth and Kansas City was 10th on the list.

Minneapolis finally broke through after six months on the top 10 list, including a three-spot jump from fourth this past month. Search traffic for Minneapolis increased 150% compared to the same period last year. Atlanta also jumped three spots on the list to wind up in second place.

Detroit skyrocketed 25 positions, with year-over-year growth at more than 200%. Colorado Springs, Colo., at No. 7, also climbed the list 61 spots. Eighth-placed Orlando, Fla., was also a big mover, up 11 spots from last month.

Buffalo and Queens, N.Y., were behind Detroit in the largest year-over-year change at 199% and 164%, respectively.
