NAAEI Bylaws and Policies
NAAEI Elections
The NAAEI executive committee consists of the following officers: President, President-Elect, Treasurer/Secretary and Immediate Past President. The NAAEI officers in conjunction with the NAAEI board act in accordance with the bylaws and policies of NAAEI and manage the affairs of the NAA Education Institute. Elections for the position of Vice President are held every other year on even numbered years at Apartmentalize.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the office of NAAEI Vice President, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be either an owner, developer, builder or operator with broad experience in multifamily housing.
- Be employed by a member company in good standing of the National Apartment Association (NAA) or an affiliate within a 6-month time period of the nomination and installation.
- Election as an NAAEI officer carries with it a responsibility and commitment to attend all scheduled meetings in conjunction with Advocate, Apartmentalize and NAA Assembly of Delegate meetings.
Responsibilities
The Vice President will have the following responsibilities:
- Support the President in providing vision and direction for NAAEI and its programs and initiatives.
- Represent NAAEI and NAA at various events and meetings and promote the value of education and professional development.
- Collaborate with the NAAEI Board of Directors, staff, committees and affiliates to ensure the alignment of NAAEI's goals and activities with NAA's strategic plan.
Elections will be held at Apartmentalize June 18 during the NAAEI Board of Directors Meeting.
The elected officer will serve a two-year term beginning January 1, 2025. The newly elected Vice President and NAAEI board will be installed at the Assembly of Delegates in November.
Interested candidates should submit their application by April 30th.

NAAEI Regional Representatives are elected by their respective regions. Elections are held every other year on even numbered years at Apartmentalize.
- Odd numbered regions will hold elections at Apartmentalize on even number years. RVPs will serve two-year terms starting January 1 of the following odd numbered year.
- Even numbered regions will hold elections at Apartmentalize on odd number years. RVPs will serve two-year terms starting January 1 of the following even numbered year.
- NAAEI RVPs may serve up to two consecutive terms with a total of four years of service.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the office of Regional Vice President, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be either an owner, developer, builder or operator currently serving in a senior-level capacity in the rental housing industry.
- Be employed by or a representative of a member in good standing of the National Apartment Association (NAA) or an affiliate.
- All nominees must have prior participation in NAA/NAAEI committees and/or local affiliated associations.
- All nominees must have been in leadership roles at NAA, NAAEI or at the state and/or local level or relevant professional experience or volunteer experience.
- No Regional Vice President shall be eligible for election after serving four (4) years.
Responsibilities
The Regional Vice Presidents will have the following responsibilities:
- A fiduciary duty to NAAEI, including duties of care, loyalty, and obedience.
- Required to act reasonably, prudently, and in the best interests of NAAEI; to avoid negligence and fraud; and to avoid conflicts of interest.
- Read material that is sent and be prepared to discuss items at meeting.
- Attend all board meetings.
- Review and approve minutes of meetings.
- Actively support and promote NAAEI programs, products, meetings, and conferences.
- Approve the NAAEI Governance Policies.
- Bring questions and/or concerns from members, their region, or other parties to
- the NAAEI Board of Directors.
- Support the NAAEI Bylaws and Governance Policies.
- Respond to member questions and needs.
Elections will be held at Apartmentalize June 19 during Region Meetings. The elected officer will serve a two-year term beginning January 1, 2025.
