Location Is Driver of New Development in D.C. Suburb

Eight apartment communities comprising almost 3,000 apartment homes are scheduled for construction around the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station, the final stop on the Silver Line of Washington, D.C.’s public transportation system. Developers are planning to capitalize on the prime location, which has seen increased ridership, with mixed-use buildings promoting retail, residential and commercial spaces.

Properties under development will include walkability features (such as sidewalks and trails to the Metro station), a 2,300-space parking garage, Class A office buildings and a hotel. Many aspects are still in development, with the first communities expected to come online in 2016. Interest is expected to be strong.
