Shipping Containers Transforming Into Student Apartments

Colorful shipping containers stacked one on top of the other will soon provide off-campus housing for Sam Houston State University (SHSU) students in Huntsville, Texas.
The 540-square-foot container apartments are the brainchild of Wagamon Enterprises, on whose property the containers are stacked. Located on a street near SHSU that has filled with student housing over the last five years, the efficiency apartments are outfitted with windows, granite-countertop kitchens and industrial-style fixtures.
Rents have not been set yet, but the company estimates that the apartments will lease for around $1 per square foot starting this summer.
