Cortland Partners has turned to the NFL to improve its resident experience by hiring Mike Gomes, as its first-ever chief experience officer.

Cortland Partners has turned to the NFL to improve its resident experience. 

The Atlanta-based owner hired Mike Gomes as its first-ever Chief Experience Officer. 

Gomes recently served as an executive at AMB Sports and Entertainment, which is an organization controlled by Home Depot co-founder Arthur Blank that owns the Atlanta Falcons, the Atlanta United Major League Soccer team, and the newly built Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Gomes also spent 20 years with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts as Vice President, Experience Development and Media Strategy.

In his new Cortland role, Gomes will oversee a team focusing on everything from customer marketing and communications to architecture, interior design and other property innovations.

“Gomes tells Bisnow he plans to boost amenities and resident services and programs in ways that will create a strong brand loyalty to Cortland properties,” writes Bisnow’s Jarred Schenke.

At the high end of the rental market, apartment companies continue to add pricy amenities and service offerings to court the resident by choice. But that is not all these customers want.

“People want to feel like they are part of a community or a neighborhood,” NAA’s Director of Industry Research and Analysis Paula Munger told Schenke.
