What can I find in the exposition?

The exposition brings together top professionals and supplier partners eager to network and share ideas on how to stay competitive in today’s growing market. To check out some of the highlights, keep checking our website for updates.

How do I access sessions information if I missed it?

Materials for each session will be available on the NAA app and our website.

You can also pre-order REWIND, PowerPoint-synced audio recordings of sessions from the conference. For more information or to pre-order, visit

What should I wear?

We do not have a specific dress code, but here are some tips:

  • Business casual attire is acceptable and widely practiced.
  • Be sure to bring layers as the meeting rooms can get chilly.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. You’ll be racking up that step count!
What should I bring?

Laptop or iPad to take notes, or the OG method – with a notebook and pen.

Business cards are a must. With all the networking opportunities, you can never have enough, so keep them with you at all times.

How do I plan my schedule?

NAA will have an app available closer to the conference where you can look up exhibitors, education sessions and other attendees. Create your own schedule based on the sessions that you’re most interested in and the companies you want to visit in the Exhibit Hall.

NAA also offers myNAAPlanner, which works in conjunction with NAA app and enables you to plan ahead and determine which education sessions will provide the best return on investment.

If you’re not already on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, get on and follow the conference hashtag at #Apartmentalize. This will give you an insider’s view of what is trending before, during and even after the conference.

Are there helpful hints for networking?

Plan your conference schedule before you arrive in San Diego. This will give you more time to interact and engage with other attendees.

Do you have a colleague attending the meeting? Ask them to guide you through and introduce you to fellow attendees.

Attend as many social events and receptions as you can. You’ll be rewarded with free food and cocktails!

Purchase a ticket to the Newcomer Breakfast on Thursday, June 14, to learn the ropes on how to maximize your experience at the conference.

Show up for sessions early. You’ll score a great seat and have time to mingle with the other attendees around you.

What should I do onsite?

Attend the Welcome Reception on Wednesday, June 13. This is a great, relaxing way to meet other attendees.

Be flexible with your conference schedule. The “law of motion and responsibility”—formerly known as the “law of two feet”—should apply: If a session is not working for you, leave (even if you are seated up front). Go to another session or meet up with others outside the session rooms who want to engage in other conversations and networking opportunities.

Keep an open mind and enjoy yourself! This is going to be a great experience and you are going to meet some wonderful people.

Justification Letter

Want to attend Apartmentalize, NAA’s annual education conference, but need to get your boss’ sign-off? Use the below “justification letter” to share with your supervisor explaining all of the benefits you’ll gain by attending.

Dear [supervisor’s name],

I would like your approval to attend Apartmentalize, NAA’s annual education conference, from June 13-16, 2018 at the San Diego Convention Center. Through networking events, peer to peer brainstorming and education sessions, I believe the conference will enable me to bring back new ideas and innovative strategies that will help us serve our residents better while maximize company resources. In addition to networking with other experts and colleagues, I will have the opportunity to meet with current and potential suppliers all in the same place.

Additional educational programming has been added to Wednesday so there’s even more opportunity to learn industry best practices through a wide range of topics including technology, marketing, maintenance, operations, leasing, leadership and more. The speaker presentations are facilitated by both industry experts and apartment housing professionals who have faced similar challenges.

The following sessions would be beneficial to our existing performance improvement goals:
• Example #1
• Example #2
• Example #3

I have estimated the total expense to be [please add your airfare, roundtrip taxi to hotel @ $50, hotel @ $220 plus tax & resort fee per night, and choose the correct conference registration fee here at].

To ensure we get the most out of my participation, I will submit a report post-conference, including an executive summary and detailed action plan.

Thank you for your consideration,
[your name]
