RMK Management Corp. Partners with Epilepsy Foundation to Donate Over 30,000 Pounds of Goods

RMK Management Corp., one of the Chicago area’s largest market-rate apartment management firms, has partnered with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago to collect more than 32,000 pounds of clothing and household goods donated by residents at RMK’s Chicagoland communities this year.

“This partnership has been a great opportunity for RMK and our residents for several reasons, not the least of which is supporting an important charity that touches many lives,” said Diana Pittro, executive vice president of RMK Management Corp.

The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago provides counseling, advocacy and educational services to the more than 130,000 people in the Chicago area with epilepsy, and their families. The Foundation also funds research to find a cure for the disorder. The clothing and household items donated are sold to fund these initiatives.

“As a property manager, we think one of our more important roles is building a sense of community within a development. We find coming together for a charitable initiative to be a great way for neighbors to meet each other and bond over a common goal,” noted Pittro.

She also added residents appreciate being able to easily recycle items they no longer need. “We manage several LEED-certified communities, so we are happy to help residents find a way to repurpose items rather than throw them away.”

In the month of September, several RMK communities each donated more than 500 pounds of items, including 73 E Lake in Chicago, Bristol Station in Naperville, Garden Quarter in Elgin, The Landings at Amhurst Lake in Waukegan, Versailles on the Lakes in Schaumburg and Williams Reserve in Palatine. Other communities that participated include Arbors at Barrington in Barrington; Barrington Bridge in Chesterton, IN; Butterfield Oaks in Aurora; Central Station in Evanston; Cook Apartments in Libertyville; Firethorne Apartments in St. Charles; Fox Valley Villages in Aurora; Geneva Park in Geneva; Maple Park in Naperville; Parc Huron, Residences at NewCity, Scotland Yard and The Scott in Chicago; Park Crossing and The Residences at the Grove in Downers Grove; Regency Place in Oakbrook Terrace; Savanna Ridge in Wildwood; and Versailles on the Lakes in Oakbrook.
