Abbey Residential Donates $10,000 to Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama
Abbey Residential supports Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama Inc. with an annual $10,000 donation. Frank Barefield, President of Abbey Residential, joined the Crime Stoppers Board of Directors three years ago as the only non-law enforcement business person and was elected chairman in 2013 and 2014. He has received training at the DEA Training Facility in Quantico, Va., and the U.S. Marshal’s Service Training Facility in Birmingham, Ala.
In the past three years Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama Inc. has grown its budget from $20,000 per year—generating tips resulting in an average of approximately 35 felony arrests and the clearing of approximately 60 felony cases per year—to a budget of approximately $200,000 per year. In 2013, they generated tips resulting in 102 felony arrests and the clearing of 223 felony cases. The arrests and cases cleared for 2014 are currently averaging a 50 percent increase over 2013 levels.
