Voice-Search Trends: Many Less Likely to Talk to Phone in Public

The popularity of voice search and use of voice commands on mobile devices is increasing, however people admittedly are bashful about doing so in public; and men are less inhibited from doing so than women, according to a survey by Stone Temple Consulting, reported on SearchEngineLand.com.

But when they do ask for information, online search ranks second among reasons to do so and map navigation ranked fourth. Making a phone call was the No. 1 reason.

Asked what benefit users would like to see further developed for voice search, the top mention was “more results that answer my question directly without having to visit a website or another app.”
