NAA Board of Directors members and staff participated in the UKAA Conference 2019—held Oct. 31 in London.
NAA AVP, Industry Research & Analysis Paula Munger and NAA board member Jeannette Cox, Oddo Development, discussed the importance of online reputation, customer service and trends in amenities. NAA board member Rick Snyder, R.A. Snyder Properties, and Munger (pictured) delved into the negative impacts of rent control.
NAA Global Outreach Committee members participated in the conference, including Barb O’Steen from Greystar and Roger Southam of EightyNine Solutions, among others.
The event gave NAA members a chance to network with UK national and international investors, owners/operators and suppliers and attend the awards banquet.
The NAA delegation also participated in a study tour of selected London rental communities, visiting five London schemes owned by prominent developers, including Ballymore, Grainger, Greystar and Essential Living. On Nov. 1, the delegates took part in a private tour of the scheme owned by Quintain (parent investor is Lone Star). Quintain’s scheme is Wembley Park in West London, and is UK’s largest multifamily housing community with 7,500 apartment homes.
The conference, attended by 340 UKAA delegates, opened with CEO Dave Butler discussing the maturing build-to-rent (BTR) sector—and the growth and ambitions of the UKAA moving toward a strategic focus on operational best practices, growing careers in the sector, increasing knowledge and understanding of the sector, and ultimately creating consumer recognition of BTR as a lifestyle choice.
