Three Steps to Adding Clients Through Referrals

For property management firms, owner referrals can provide a great way to add new business.

To start, Fourandhalf’s Danny Morris suggests that management companies should showcase their referral programs on their websites and create social media share buttons with auto-filled text.

Next, management firms should develop relationships with satisfied customers, including residents who may know managers.

“Consider whether providing an incentive for referrals is the right move for your business,” Morris writes. “Many small businesses thrive with an incentivized referral program. Let your happy customers know that if they bring their friends to do business with you, they will be rewarded.”

Finally, look to vendors for owner referrals.

“If you take care of your vendors, they’ll take care of you. Think about all the work you provide to your vendors,” Morris writes. “They’ll be happy to return the favor and bring in some new business for you. After all, more business for you leads to more business with them. They work in properties for landlords and owners every day; make sure they know how much you’ll appreciate any referrals.”
