NAA Members Identify Major Policy Priorities
A broad range of NAA members rank tax policy followed closely by housing policy as the industry’s most important public policy issues. More than 300 members responded to the December survey to inform the industry’s legislative priorities for the new Congress and administration.
Nearly two-thirds identified comprehensive tax reform as “very important” while more than half ranked tax depreciation rules and business interest deductibility as “very important.”
In housing policy, more than half of the respondents said rent control and affordable housing were the top issues within that category.
NAA members listed business and property operations as the third most important policy issue, with nearly three-quarters ranking criminal background checks as “very important.”
The other policy issues were ranked, in order, construction and development; finance and capital markets; energy; indoor environmental issues; and telecom and technology.
