“My RPM Story” – Daniel

RPM Careers

RPM Career AmbassadorAfter four years in the U.S. Navy, I had to make a choice — study medicine or study law. As it turns out, residential property management (RPM) chose me.

When I graduated from high school in 2003, I joined the Navy, eventually becoming a Fleet Marine Force hospital corpsman and serving in Marine Corps units. With my second tour in Iraq behind me and an honorable discharge, I started college as a pre-med student at the University of North Texas.

I was trying to find my niche, so after my first year I switched my focus to pre-law and landed in a class about the principles of real estate. I liked the class so much that I enrolled in the certified apartment manager (CAM) program. I ended up graduating with a bachelor’s degree in political science, a CAM designation, and a double minor in legal studies in business and real estate. This educational background, coupled with the skills I learned in the military, helped me easily transition into an RPM career.

I’ve held many positions in RPM as part of my journey so far — intern at The Lynd Company, property manager at Wells Asset Management, Inc., and now junior regional/marketing coordinator at Wells Asset — and I plan to keep climbing the ladder!

I love this industry because I get to meet interesting people every day and make a positive impact on their lives. RPM is always evolving, so there’s never a dull moment. And jobs in this industry can literally take you anywhere because RPM is everywhere!

One thing I tell people who want to succeed in this industry: Find out as much as you can about every aspect of RPM and never stop learning.

I became an RPM Careers ambassador so I could share my knowledge of the industry with people who are interested in an RPM career. If you know someone who would make a great RPM Careers ambassador, email Sarah Levine.
