ARLINGTON, VA | September 30, 2020 – The Beach Company’s Michael Bailey won the first ever-virtual Maintenance Mania National Championship, held on September 18. Bailey, a member of the Apartment Association of Greater Columbia, was among 20 competitors from across the National Apartment Association’s (NAA) affiliate network. The new virtual format tested competitors’ maintenance expertise with multiple-choice and true or false questions over three rounds. Glenn Mann of Heritage Properties Inc. and Shreveport-Bossier Apartment Association placed second.
The first-ever virtual Maintenance Mania National Championship, hosted by NAA and presenting sponsor HD Supply, took place virtually and was hosted by George Shea. Three lightning rounds of maintenance-focused challenges tested competitors’ knowledge as they competed for the national title and nearly $20,000 in prizes courtesy of the presenting and national sponsors.
During each round, participants answered maintenance-related, multiple-choice or true/false questions in a rapid-fire format. If a participant did not correctly answer a question within the allotted time frame, they were disqualified from the competition. The participant with the most questions answered correctly won that pool’s prize, and moved on to the next round until the 2019-2020 Maintenance Mania Champion was crowned.
