When you’re a property owner with aggressive growth goals, you need a partner than can help you reach new heights with your apartment communities.

Corky Wolf knows all about that. He is the real estate project manager of Highland Commercial Properties in Texas, and he and his team are working hard to grow by 100 units a year. At the moment, he is working on a 50-unit renovation, and he’s using The Home Depot to get the job done.

On a recent Wednesday, he called his Home Depot representative, Ted Eickelberg, in San Antonio looking for a new shipment of materials to help refit his units in Fort Worth. By the next day, everything Wolf needed was in the driveway ready to be installed.  Thanks to The Home Depot, Corky was able to order product and get it delivered, without stepping foot in a store, saving him time and money.

The Home Depot helps take the headache out of a renovation. “I’ve been in a 12-year relationship with my Home Depot representative and local Home Depot Pro Desk. They’ve really become my best friends. When I need to source products, he always gets me exactly what I need.”

A partner like The Home Depot can help property managers discover and source trends and designs that resident will love.  “We use Home Depot to buy new vanities, mirrors and lighting,” says Wolf. “Most of our properties are older – from the 50s, 60s and 70s, and when we put in a new vanity it gives it a more modern look.”

“We’re also using a larger ceramic tile that’s coordinated with the floor and the countertops.” Lately, Wolf has seen positive feedback from his residents after making these trendy bathroom updates.

Wolf and his team are looking to please residents with the smaller details, including six-panel doors, as opposed to flat-panel, and rocker switch panels in lieu of traditional light switches.

In the kitchen, Wolf recommends revitalizing the cabinets to make the biggest impact with residents. But he also says a new appliance package goes a long way with prospective residents. “White appliances keep the costs down and they’re easier to clean. Some people like the stainless steel look, but it’s impossible to keep it clean from fingerprint smudges.”

Renovating an apartment can get a little complicated, but for Wolf, The Home Depot makes it easy. “Ted and my local Home Depot store know my portfolio inside and out. If I get on the phone and say that I need a left-hand tub package, they can set it all up and get it shipped out right away.”
