Brand building is not just the job of marketing professionals; property managers have an important role to play as well.

In a recent webinar, Lisa Wise, with management company Nest D.C. in the nation’s capital, discussed the steps property managers can take to build and maintain an apartment community’s stellar brand.

  • Commit to the community. Establish your presence on social media, and be responsive to apartment resident concerns that crop up there and elsewhere. Provide residents with inside information on community happenings, such as new restaurants, store openings and concerts. Participate in local fundraisers and volunteer at community events.
  • Invest in professional photography. In fact, don’t just hire a professional photographer, hire a professional photographer than specializes in real estate. Every photo on your website should be the best representation of your apartment community and staff members.
  • Be empathetic to resident problems. In the end, being a good property manager—and maintaining a strong brand—comes back to properly handling your residents’ concerns. Do this, and you’ve gone a long way toward building a strong brand.
