Doing safety check and developing new amenities are among the things that should be anything on rental housing operators’ to-do list in 2018.
It is a time for New Year’s resolutions and AppFolio’s Elizabeth Millar suggests that rental housing operators should not forget to make resolutions for the year ahead.
To start with, Millar thinks managers should an email to residents wishing them a “Happy New Year” and reintroducing their blog. “This personalized email is a great way to create a positive touch point, build your existing relationships, and offer helpful seasonal advice via your blog,” Millar writes. “Speaking of which, don’t forget to make and stick to your digital publication schedule starting right away.”
Millar also suggests that managers should explore popular amenities, such as smart home technologies and community-driven spaces. They should also look at using apps to help residents schedule a tour or lease an apartment or single-family home. Finally, it is important to carve out time to check on your communities or single-family homes.
“This simple check-up can alert you to any future maintenance problems, help you to assess areas of improvement for each property, and will be a great comfort to both your homeowners and renters,” Millar writes. “From checking on filters to making sure that the paint isn’t chipping, the beginning of the new year is the perfect time to make sure that your properties are in tip-top shape.”
