Get Ready for the Maintenance Mania National Championship

The Maintenance Mania program is presented by NAA with presenting sponsor HD Supply. The purpose of the Maintenance Mania program is to acknowledge and show appreciation for the industry’s maintenance technicians. The work that these individuals perform on a day-to-day basis often is overlooked, but it is vital to the success of their properties, ensuring that residents are able to feel comfortable and secure in their homes.

Sixty-six qualifying events were held by local apartment associations across the country during the 2016-17 season. At these events, maintenance technicians competed in seven games that simulated maintenance requests that a technician may receive on a property. The final challenge was a Pinewood Derby-style race featuring cars made from everyday maintenance and repair parts.

From these local competitions, 20 national finalists earned the right to compete at the Maintenance Mania National Championship on June 23 at the Georgia World Congress Center. They will receive complimentary airfare, accommodations and VIP treatment at the 2017 NAA Education Conference & Exposition June 21-24 in Atlanta. George Shea, Founder of Major League Eating and host of Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest (airing July 4 on ESPN), will emcee the event for the second consecutive year.

This year’s finalists will be competing for nearly $20,000 in cash and prizes and the title of the fastest maintenance tech in the USA! The finalist with the lowest accumulated performance time across all eight games will be named the 2017 National Champion.
