Video is among the digital trends that deserve your focus in 2018.

Consumers will continue to spend more time on the Internet in 2018. Because of that, apartment operators need to stay on top of the latest trends.

Right now, 50 percent of all mobile traffic comes from streaming video. Some predict that number will soon reach 90 percent, presenting an opportunity for apartment managers.

“Video gives you the opportunity to humanize your brand and creates a sense of excitement,” Property Management Insider’s Amir Ellis and Leah Mendes write. “In the world of social media, there is no question that Facebook is putting video at the center of its apps and services. Video is evolving. There are three distinct avenues for it in social: professional video, pre-recorded mobile video and live video.”

To be successful, social media marketers will need to be able to prove NOI for their efforts to secure executive-level support. Ellis and Mendes recommend using Google Analytics to track success and to define goals and benchmarks per channel.

The customer experience will change in 2018 through technology led by non-human interaction. Ellis and Mendes cite TechEmergence, which predicts that 85 percent of customer interactions will be managed without a human by 2020.

“A unique and personalized chat experience can create new opportunities and help businesses stand out from the competition,” Ellis and Mendes write. “Even farmers are using AI technology to spot diseased crops faster and preventing a spread to healthy crops. How do you picture using artificial intelligence?”
