ARLINGTON, VA – ContraVest’s Brandon Gay captured his first Maintenance Mania championship title on June 15 in San Diego. Gay, a member of the Apartment Association of Greater Orlando, was among 20 finalists who advanced from a pool of thousands of competitors to vie for the title of the world’s fastest maintenance technician. Lannon Quintana with Cardinal Group Management and the Apartment Association of Metro Denver placed second; Anthony Alfaro with the Gene B. Glick Company and the Indiana Apartment Association finished third. The Atlanta Apartment Association took home the Spirit Award.

The 12th annual National Championship, hosted by NAA and presenting sponsor HD Supply, took place during NAA’s Apartmentalize. Eight maintenance-focused challenges tested competitors’ skills and knowledge as they competed for the national title and nearly $20,000 in prizes courtesy of the presenting and national sponsors.

Skill competitions included:

  • AO Smith Water Heater Installation
  • Fluidmaster Toilet Repair
  • Frigidaire Icemaker Installation
  • Kidde Fire and Carbon Monoxide Safety Installation
  • Kwikset Key Control Deadbolt Test
  • Seasons Ceiling Fan Assembly
  • Smart Comfort Air Conditioner Repair
  • SmartBurner Race Car Competition

The final event featured cars built from items used by maintenance techs that were then raced down a pinewood derby-style track.

Maintenance Mania gives our industry an opportunity to recognize the professionals who play such an important role in our industry.”

“We’re proud to be the presenting sponsor of Maintenance Mania,” said Jeff Howe, Chief Sales Officer, HD Supply Facilities Maintenance. “This competition provides maintenance professionals a stage where they can showcase their vast skillsets. We can’t wait to see who rises to the top and earns the title of World’s Fastest Maintenance Tech in Denver.”
