NAA Makes DNC & RNC Appearances
NAA participates in an industry group called the National Real Estate Organizations (NREO) on advocacy and other efforts. In coordination with The Hill newspaper, NREO hosted an event and live webcast at both conventions, entitled Real Estate & the U.S. Economy: A Policy Discussion on 2017 and Beyond, to highlight and discuss real estate concerns with members of Congress and other industry stakeholders.
NAA 2016 Chairman of the Board Marc Ross, CAPS, had the privilege of representing NAA during the event in Cleveland at the Republican National Convention. NAA 2016 Chairman-Elect Cindy Clare, (Kettler Management) did the same for NAA in Philadelphia at the Democratic National Convention this past week.
During both events, panelists from industry and Congress highlighted the critical role that real estate plays in driving our economy.
During the event in Philadelphia, Clare spoke specifically about capital market liquidity for multifamily and its impacts on affordability in communities around the nation. She noted that in those markets where affordable and workforce housing is most needed, it can be especially difficult to secure capital financing. The panel was moderated by Dave Stevens, President and CEO for the Mortgage Bankers Association, and included Reps. John Delaney (D-MD) and Ed Perlmutter (D-CO).
