Fitness centers are great exercise outlets, but play — especially in green spaces — does more for mental health. The benefits of outdoor play are so significant that experts are prescribing it to supplement or replace medication for ADHD and other behavior disorders.

Play burns calories, reduces stress and improves moods. Rather than focusing on fitness goals, adults can instead enjoy the activity at hand to boost their confidence. Employers have begun to incorporate play into wellness programs for more effective results as well, as employees may negatively correlate fitness performance to work performance.
