NAA Connect Libraries

Connect Libraries are filled with resources that touch on almost every aspect of the industry. These libraries contain best practices, sample forms, sample policies, research papers, templates and more. These libraries are divided by topic for easier browsing. 

NAA members shared many of these library documents for the benefit of other NAA members and all items within the Connect Libraries are posted with the permission of the document source. Other sources of industry information posted include NAA partners, private companies and government agencies. 

Libraries that are listed under as a "Community Library" belong to a Connect Community of the same name, and web visitors must first join the community in order to access the library documents. Libraries listed as "Stand-Alone" are not associted with any Connect Communities.

Stand-Alone Libraries 

Bed Bugs Library

The documents contained in this library include information on identifying, preventing and eliminating bed bug infestations. Guidelines, sample policies and research are also included. 

Orkin Pest Management Library

Through a partnership with Orkin, the National Apartment Association is able to provide the following tip sheets and resources on pest management including a Tip of the Month. 

Building Operations Library

The documents contained in this library are related to the day-to-day services necessary to maintain the buildings and grounds in a functional condition, including maintenance, pest management, utilities, repairs and renovations. 

Careers Library

The Apartment Careers Library contains articles about different career paths peple have taken within the industry, articles about Apartment Careers Month, articles about NAAEI designations and miscellaneous resources about careers, including a 2010 study on ways to retain employees who are Property Management Graduates.

Emergency and Disaster Library

The documents contained in this library are intended to help NAA members plan for natural disasters and other emergencies. These include sample policies, best practices and business assessment and planning tools that have been shared with the NAA Community by other NAA members and public agencies such as FEMA and the American Red Cross.

Fair Housing Library

Fair Housing Library contains documents with information on Fair Housing including a general overview, data on protected classes, articles about the implications Fair Housing laws can have on building operations and more. 

Finance Library

The Finance Library contains articles covering various financial aspects of the apartment industry including, but not limited to, budgeting, revenue management, interest rate management and more. 

Human Resources Library

The Human Resources Library contains a collection of documents covering various aspects of human resources in the multifamily housing industry. This includes, but is not limited to, hiring decisions, interviewing candidates, performance management and evaluation, administration, employee communication and motivation. Many of the documents in this library are applicable to both apartment community teams and association staff. 

Revenue Management Library

The Revenue Management Library contains recaps of all education sessions from the 2013 Apartment Revenue Management Conference.

Social Media Library

The Social Media Library includes best practices, articles and sample policies on social media.

Staff Training Library

The Staff Training Library contains documents intended to train staff, and documents about training staff. 

Community Libraries

The Libraries listed below are attached to NAA Connect Communities, where members can network with others who share their industry interests and discuss related issues through the forums.  NAA members have full access to all of the Libraries listed below (and their Communities), but you'll be asked to join the Community prior to downloading anything. 

Affordable Housing Library

The Affordable Housing Library contains case studies, research, best practices and past units Magazine articles intended for those who own, manage, or lease affordable housing communities. 

Green & Sustainability Library

The Green & Sustainability Library contains case studies from NAA members, best practices for cutting energy costs, information packets for communicating with residents about community green efforts, research papers, survey results and templates to help apartment communities cut costs and raise revenue with green initiatives.
