Understanding the Impacts of Cannabis on Property Management
Legal/Fair Housing

The cannabis industry is here to stay. Based on a 2018 Gallup poll, 13% of all adult Americans use or smoke marijuana regularly or occasionally. Cannabis industries generated $9 billion in sales in 2019 and are forecasted to exceed $20 billion by 2023. In addition, the size of the workforce in the industry will also expand in the next few years, from 200,000 today to 500,000 in 2023. These statistics indicate that as the industry grows and more states legalize recreational cannabis use, property managers will need to learn to manage properties where marijuana is cultivated, distributed and used.
