Beer Bottling Plant to Become Student Housing

Digested from “Pabst building sold for international student housing project”
Milwaukee Business Journal (3/16/15) Ryan, Sean

A former Pabst Blue Ribbon bottling building in Milwaukee, Wis., will soon have a new life as international student housing. Interior demolition work has already begun, and the building is slated to start leasing in summer 2016 for fall occupancy.

An affiliate of Blue Ribbon Management bought the building for $2.25 million and has city approval to convert the 250,000-square-foot building into 150 housing units, with up to 438 beds. Most of the units will be housing for international students attending Milwaukee-area colleges and universities; the rest will be part of an extended-stay hotel.

According to current plans, the building will also include a community cafeteria and convenience store. However, retail tenants and the numbers of housing units and beds won’t be finalized until early April.
