Support Military Veterans and Spouses by Serving as an Exhibitor for NAAEI’s Military Career Fair in San Diego

Military veterans, spouses and transitioning military members often make excellent apartment industry employees, yet few are aware of the many job opportunities our industry offers. Meanwhile, this segment of our workforce continues to face unemployment rates well above the national average.

To help change this, we are organizing a military career fair on June 19, immediately preceding the start of the NAA Education Conference and Exposition. But, we need your help! We are recruiting up to 50 apartment owner, management or supplier companies with job openings to serve as exhibitors for the 2013 NAA Education Institute Military Career Fair.

We are limiting career fair attendance to veterans, military spouses and transitioning military and expect 500 to 1,000 people to participate. As an exhibitor, you will have the opportunity to post unlimited job openings on the career fair website and schedule appointments with job fair attendees in advance. You’ll also have online access to resumes submitted by attendees before the career fair, so you can identify potential job candidates.

The cost for a booth at the career fair is $1,000, but NAAEI is donating 100 percent of that fee to two San Diego-area military charities -- Armed Services YMCA (San Diego) and REBOOT, a non-profit that provides training to successfully transition veterans from the battlefront to the homefront.

People with military backgrounds are a good fit for apartment industry jobs. These individuals have extensive experience working as a member of a team to accomplish goals, have been trained to think on their feet and have been instilled with a solid work ethic and dedication to a job and to helping others. They also are expert problem-solvers who know the value of fixing something right the first time.

You can learn more about what veterans and military spouses bring to apartment industry jobs by checking out two NAAEI videos in which we interview Shonna Schneider of The Liberty Group and U.S. Army veteran Jason Whittington of the Gene B. Glick Company. Both share their insights on why military veterans and military spouses make ideal apartment industry employees.

Help us give something back to the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country. Help us connect them with jobs in our industry. Register as an exhibitor for our military career fair today.
