Texas Leads Nation in Job Creation
Finance Insider
Stats released mid-March by the Texas Workforce Commission indicate that the Lone Star State kicked off 2011 with the creation of 44,000 jobs, on net, during the month of January. Probably not much of a surprise to anyone, that tally was the biggest across any individual state. The 12-month running total of job production in Texas has well surpassed the mark of 200,000 positions. Economists are optimistic about job growth prospects across Texas during the next few years. Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston are at the top of the list of metros forecast to add the most jobs on an absolute basis, while Austin and San Antonio are anticipated to be superstars in the percentage growth rankings. Those performances would likely translate to very strong demand for housing, including apartments.
But wait. MPF Research echoes the favorable views of the Texas economies voiced by others, but it thinks that some ongoing or upcoming big-picture developments in the state’s economic influences, such as rising energy prices, budget cuts in the U.S. Department of Defense and the real wild-card possibility of immigration reform may lead to some tweaks to these expectations.
