In response to a request from the House Oversight & Government Reform
Committee to flag federal regulations that may harm job growth, NAA/NMHC and a coalition have submitted a letter identifying EPA’s Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) rule.
NAA/NMHC’s coalition made it clear that, while it supports reducing lead-based paint, NAA/NMHC are concerned that changes EPA has made and is considering making to the RRP rule will create costly disincentives to ongoing repair and rehabilitation activities and could hinder job creation without demonstrably improving public health.
Information on the RRP rule, including an NAA/NMHC compliance guidance document, is available at
www.naahq.org/governmentaffairs.
Further, NAA/NMHC and a coalition of real estate interests submitted an additional letter to the House Oversight Committee raising concerns over imminent EPA stormwater regulations. These regulations would, for the first time, require all existing buildings to comply with strict federal rules for stormwater runoff. NAA/NMHC support meaningful water quality standards, but these regulations would create significant technical, administrative and costly burdens for property owners.
