A simple follow-up message with prospective residents can increase lease closing rates by 15 percent, according to apartment resident survey data from J Turner Research, which recently conducted prospect exit interviews for more than 27,000 individual residents.
Prospects who decided to lease at a community after a leasing agent made a follow-up call, letter or e-mail measured at 62 percent. Only 42 percent signed leases at an apartment community where they did not receive a follow-up from a leasing agent.
Prospective residents who did not receive a follow-up continued looking elsewhere for an apartment by a difference of 14 percent more than those who did.
