ARLINGTON, Va., June 10, 2013 — As a leasing professional with Chestnut Hill Realty in Boston, Justin Reilly, NALP, has a unique ability to connect with anyone who comes into his office and to help them with whatever they might need. That is just one of the many skills that have earned him recognition as the National Apartment Association Education Institute’s (NAAEI) National Apartment Leasing Professional of the Year for 2013.
“Justin has mastered providing excellent customer service,” said NAAEI President William Wollinger, CAPS, SHCM. “Providing that is at the heart of what we do in the apartment industry. Justin has dedicated himself to taking care of his residents while also keeping his eye on the bottom line and the business goals set by his supervisors.”
Reilly has spent seven years as a resident services professional at Chestnut Hill Realty where he leases apartments at the four different apartment communities that make up the village, as well as responds to resident issues and questions. In 2012 alone, he was responsible for 148 out of the 186 leases completed at the four properties. Chestnut Hill Realty manages the properties, and Reilly became one of the first members of its Five Million Dollar Club for renting $5 million worth of apartments since 2010. In addition, he was selected to participate in the company’s inaugural Supervisor Development Program.
“I’ve never seen anything like his approach to leasing,” said property manager Kelly Higgins, who supervises Reilly. “Somehow he’s able to connect with people from all walks of life.”
She credits Reilly with approaching customer service with a level of compassion and genuine interest that exceeds all expectations and reflects his own commitment to excellence. He is a phenomenal team player and role model who is always willing to assist coworkers, she said. Reilly has achieved asking rents above the normal market rents during a time in which residents and potential residents may have been turned off by major construction at the property.
Jennifer Murphy, CHR’s director of residential leasing, said, “We felt confident that when we were faced with renting 48 brand-new apartments this year, on top of our typical turnover that occurs at Ridgecrest Village, nobody was better suited for handling this demanding rental season than Justin Reilly. His get-it-done attitude and his ability to rent a high volume of apartments was the reason we knew he could handle the role of lead leasing agent of this lease-up.”
In 2012, the Massachusetts Rental Housing Association honored Reilly with its NALP of the Year award. He is currently completing work on his NAAEI Certified Apartment Manager professional designation.
Reilly will be recognized as part of the PARAGON Awards Ceremony that will be held at the 2013 National Apartment Association Education Conference and Exposition on June 22 at the San Diego Convention Center. The NAA PARAGON Awards recognize excellence and leadership in the rental housing industry. These national awards celebrate the unique contributions made to the industry by builders/developers, industry professionals and affiliated apartment associations.
