NAA, NMHC Win Four ASAE Awards for PR Campaign

ARLINGTON, Va. / April 17, 2014 – NAA and National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) received three American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) 2014 Gold Circle Awards for their “Apartments. We Live Here.” PR campaign. The campaign won in the categories of Innovative Communications, Integrated Communications Campaign and Media/Public Relations Campaign. NAA/NMHC also won a Merit Award for their joint website, www.weareapartments.org

The campaign tells the story about how in communities across the country, apartments work—helping people live in a home that’s right for them. Central to the campaign was the creation of a new, info-driven digital experience that features a unique, interactive infographic. In addition, the site organized more than 1,500 data points into an easily digestible hierarchy, allowing users to find the economic impact of the industry in their particular state or in 12 target metros. The site also features an innovative economic impact calculator that provides the impact of any number of new or existing apartments to that particular state. 

“Whether it’s young professionals starting out, workers wanting to live near their jobs, down-sizing empty nesters, married couples without children or families building a better life, apartments provide a sensible option to meet their housing needs, all while creating jobs and strengthening communities,” said Kim Duty, NMHC Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Industry Initiatives.

“This campaign has increased policymakers’ understanding of not only how our trillion dollar industry helps 35 million renters live in a home that’s right for them but also the value apartments bring to communities by providing housing choice, creating millions of jobs and supporting local businesses,” said Greg Brown, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. “Our campaign is an important step in connecting policymakers not only to the dollars and jobs from apartments, but also the millions who call an apartment home.”

The Gold Circle Awards recognize excellence, innovation and achievement in association/nonprofit marketing, membership, communications and component relations programs. The entries were evaluated by judges from a variety of associations, nonprofits and for-profit organizations.   

NAA and NMHC will be recognized for their achievements during the Gold Circle Awards ceremony on June 17 at the 2014 Marketing, Membership and Communications Conference in Washington.
