ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 26, 2013 – Ernie Martin received the National Apartment Association (NAA)’s first Supplier Partner Lifetime Achievement Award during a ceremony Nov. 8 at The Adolphus Hotel in Dallas.

Martin, Carrollton, Texas, was the President of For Rent Magazine from 1983 to 2000. During his tenure he built an organization that still flourishes—known today as For Rent Media Solutions, a company dedicated to bringing prospective residents and apartment communities together.

He served on many NAA boards, and made a particularly big impact as a longstanding member of the Budget & Finance Committee.

“Ernie worked tirelessly to ensure a bright future for our organization, and fought for NAA’s success from the very beginning,” NAA President and CEO Doug Culkin, CAE, said. “He is truly deserving of this award.”

Added Terry Slattery, current President of For Rent Media Solutions, “When questioned about the benefit of investing in NAA, Ernie always responded by saying, ‘NAA is the organization that helps support the best interests of our valued customers. The benefit we get is supporting a group that supports us.’ NAA always called Ernie first when support—either through dollars or people—was needed. He was always there to give what was necessary.”

The Lifetime Achievement Award was created to recognize the contributions of NAA’s supplier members and association executives for their long-term history of exemplary national service and accomplishments to the National Apartment Association and the apartment industry.
