WASHINGTON/ Aug. 13, 2014 — Statement from the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) and National Apartment Association (NAA) on Assistant Secretary for Housing/FHA Commissioner Carole Galante,  of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD):

"We want to thank Assistant Secretary Carole Galante for her years of service at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and her stewardship of the Federal Housing Administration during the one of the toughest economies of this generation. Her leadership was instrumental in navigating the country through the unprecedented housing collapse.

“We are pleased that she will continue to be an important voice in the industry and wish her well in her new roles at the University of California, Berkley, including positions the I. Donald Terner Distinguished Professorship in Affordable Housing and Urban, Director of the Berkeley Program in Housing and Urban Policy and co-chair of the Fisher Center on Real Estate Policy Advisory Board.

“We look forward to working with Biniam Gebre, General Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Housing, as the country tackles housing finance reform and numerous other critical issues.”
