Arizona Multihousing Association (AMA) President, Phoenix City Councilmember and Chairman of the city’s light rail board Tom Simplot attended a White House press conference April 21 where it was announced that the City of Phoenix will receive $25 million in federal funds to assist it in the implementation of projects aimed at helping multifamily properties along the city’s light-rail system achieve energy efficiency.
Energy-efficient retrofit incentives offered by the city to multifamily property owners include tax credits and funds available through a revolving loan program. Although the program applies to commercial and single-family properties as well, it is unique in that it specifically includes a tax break on rental taxes for participating properties.
