Hazardous Materials - NAA/NMHC Letter to EPA Requesting Clarification on the Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule

3/22/2010
NAA/NMHC

NAA/NMHC are seeking a two year period of compliance assistance under the Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) rule.  This extended compliance assistance phase would enable companies and individuals to become certified and receive the appropriate additional training. It would also permit additional time for EPA to further its outreach efforts and provide further clarification on the terms of the rule. We believe that an extended period of compliance assistance period during which the Agency assists the regulated community in coming into compliance rather than enforcing punitive sanctions will best serve our mutual goal of assuring lead safe housing.
