NAA/NMHC Webinar: New Credit Score Disclosure Obligation

9/28/2011
NAA/NMHC

Effective July 21, apartment firms that use a “credit score” to deny a rental application may have additional obligations to disclose that to applicants.  NAA/NMHC hosted a members-only webinar on
September 28, 2011 to help firms understand how, or if, the regulatory change affects them.

This webinar covers:

  • The difference between a “credit score” and a “proprietary score”
  • What triggers the new disclosure obligations
  • What must be included in the new notices to affected applicants

Panelists:

  • John L. Culhane, Partner, Ballard Spahr LLP
  • David Carner, President, Leasing Desk
  • Lisa Williams, Vice President of Management Systems, Bozzuto Management Company
  • Jay Harris, Vice President, Business Services, CoreLogic SafeRent

In addition, NAA has posted a guidance document that was produced by NAA/NMHC and Ballard Spahr LLP with more information on the regulations.

A pdf of the webinar is also available, click here.
