In 2004, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimated that 732 children in the U.S. were injured as a result of falling out of windows, among these 12 children died. This number represents those falls caused by accident or intentionally (as some are abuse cases). Preventing the death and injury of children is a priority, but additional legislation to require window guards and stops is not the solution. Parental responsibility and supervision is key to keeping children safe.
