The underpinning for EPA’s pending rule revolves around several older studies including a HUD study which over estimated the number of homes that have lead paint and lead hazards and a significantly flawed study conducted by the National Center which looked at dust lead levels following certain remodeling activities. NAA/NMHC noted some of the deficiencies with that research project in our May 2006 comment letter to EPA.
