Green Electric-Vehicle Charging Station Installed in a Pheonix Apartment Community

PHOENIX, Ariz. – September 26, 2012 – Trillium Residential, LLC announces the completion of the installation of electric-vehicle charging stations at Trillium North, a 274-unit upscale multi-family community located Loop 101 and 7th Street in North Phoenix (20435 N. 7th Street, Phoenix AZ). The chargers are part of ECOtality, Inc.’s (NASDAQ: ECTY) The EV Project, launched in 2009, to install electric-vehicle charger infrastructure in markets throughout the U.S.

Trillium North is the first apartment community in Phoenix and only one of two locations in the NW Phoenix area at this time, to offer a “Commercial DC Fast Charger” capable of a full charge in less than 30 minutes. In addition, the multifamily community also had two “Level 2 Residential Wall Mount Chargers” for overnight charges.

“We have always led the multifamily industry in thinking of innovative ways to benefit our renter-by-choice demographic, so we jumped at the opportunity to partner with The EV Project,” says Michelle Sinclair, president of Trillium Residential.

San Francisco-based ECOtality and ECOtality North America based in Phoenix are contracted with the Department of Energy and has been funded with $230 million in grants.

“We have installed over 400 and will install 125 more charging stations in the Phoenix metro area, with this being the first fast charger at an apartment community in the Valley,” states Marc Sobelman, ECOtality’s Arizona manager. “The charging stations at Trillium North allow access not only to its residents, but also to commuters along the highly trafficked Loop 101 corridor in North Phoenix. With infrastructure like this, more people are likely to consider purchasing electric-vehicles because they know that they can go from home to work and back, with access to numerous locations to charge up.”

The EV Project has a Blink Mobile EV Charging App that locates charging stations nearby. Electric-vehicle owners can now easily find Trillium North’s fast charging station. “Not only do the chargers add great value to our resident, but commuters in North Phoenix get to benefit from them too,” adds Sinclair. “While commuters wait just 20 minutes for their car to charge, they can lounge in our 8,980 square-foot Great Room and sip on a cappuccino while catching up on emails. This experience certainly beats filling up at a gas station.”

Trillium Residential has additional green efforts underway such as future solar panels and plans to retrofit its other multifamily communities to offer electric-vehicle charging stations. For more information, visit www.trilliumresidential.com or call 602-688-5410.
