ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 21, 2011 –The National Apartment Association (NAA), America’s leading advocate for quality rental housing, has hired Robert Pinnegar, CAE, as its Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
In this capacity, Pinnegar will work immediately under NAA President Doug Culkin, CAE, and be charged with assisting in administering NAA’s daily operations.
Pinnegar brings tremendous depth of association management knowledge and expertise in the apartment industry gained from nearly 10 years as Executive Director of the San Diego County Apartment Association (SDCAA), serving that role since September 2002.
Pinnegar’s active involvement with NAA through SDCAA gives him valuable insight and a firm understanding of the operations and mission of NAA, the leading advocate for the multifamily housing industry.
“I am excited about bringing my management experience, industry knowledge and association skills to the industry’s largest multifamily housing organization in the country,” Pinnegar said. “The opportunity to help lead NAA during its continued period of membership growth while our industry is thriving nationally is a challenge that I heartily accept.”
Under Pinnegar, SDCAA provides a full scope of member services, including advocacy, education, best practices, industry research and networking opportunities. Prior to serving as SDCAA’s Executive Director, Pinnegar worked seven years as SDCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and spent one year as the San Diego Association of Realtors’ Vice President of Government Relations. He also worked for local public officials in San Diego and California after earning a B.A. in Applied Arts and Sciences, Public Administration, from San Diego State University.
“Bob Pinnegar’s proven experience in the multifamily housing industry will be an enormous asset to our team at NAA and help strengthen NAA’s national presence,” Culkin said. “Our members and their residents are facing enormous challenges in this economic climate and Pinnegar will be instrumental in continuing NAA’s efforts to give its growing membership the products and services it needs on the federal, state, and local levels.”
Pinnegar’s position at SDCAA will be filled by Alan Pentico, who served the past eight years as SDCAA’s Director of Public Affairs.
