Dolben to be Inducted into NAA Hall of Fame

Arlington, VA, April 24, 2009 - The National Apartment Association (NAA) is pleased to announce that Deane Dolben, CAPS, President of The Dolben Company, Boston, will be inducted into the NAA Hall of Fame.

Induction into the NAA Hall of Fame represents the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an apartment professional. He is the 12th person inducted over the 70-year history of NAA and will be installed June 25 during the 2009 NAA Education Conference & Exposition in Las Vegas.

Dolben, a Past Chairman of the Board, has been active in apartment industry leadership since 1997, when he was President of the Rental Housing Association of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. In 1998, he played a key role in bringing the Northeast into NAA’s membership. Dolben served as NAA President (now recognized as Chairman of the Board) in 2004.

During his year as NAA President, Dolben was instrumental in combining all NAA education components into one entity designed to meet apartment industry education and recruitment needs, culminating in the formation of the NAA Education Institute (NAAEI) on June 23, 2004. The Dolben Company was the first major investor in NAAEI’s “Investing in Our Profession” campaign. In 2007, he was awarded NAAEI’s Apartment Career and Education Award.

Dolben also helped to overhaul the membership dues structure through the Membership Equity Task Force, resulting in the current single national dues structure.

Starting as a maintenance worker as a teenager and then working his way through the management ranks, Dolben, a Tufts University graduate, has played a key role with the family-owned Dolben Company throughout his career.

Since 1929, The Dolben Company Inc. has provided property and asset management, development and investment services to a wide array of businesses, financial institutions, organizations and private investors. The company has offices in Massachusetts and Maryland and manages more than 10,000 residential units through New England and the Mid-Atlantic states.

Other NAA leadership roles Dolben has held include Region II Vice President (1999-2000); Board of Directors member (1999-2007); Chairman of the Builders, Owners Development Forum (2000-2002); Treasurer (2001); Chairman of Budget and Finance (2001); Executive Committee member (2001-2005); Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee (2002-2004); Education Institute Board member (2004-2008); Past Presidents Committee member (2005); and Education Institute Chairman of the Campaign Cabinet (2005-2007).
