GCAA Recognized as "Largest Civic Team" at Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Charlotte, NC, Oct. 14, 2009 - On October 3, 2009, the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association (GCAA) participated for the second consecutive year in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. GCAA's team, "Charlotte Apartments for the Cure" was comprised of 126 members, including owner/operators, on-site teams, and vendor partners. Many brought additional family members to walk/run the 5K course along with the GCAA team.

The Charlotte Chapter of the Komen Foundation awarded the GCAA the "Largest Civic Team" award at the event's closing ceremonies. GCAA won the same award in 2008, its first year of participation in the Race.

All together, GCAA team members and sponsors raised just over $9,000 for the Komen Foundation. This donation will help the Foundation with its important objectives of funding research to find a cure for breast cancer and educating the public about the importance of screening for early detection of the disease.

Long-time GCAA member Michael Kucera of the Charlotte Apartment Finder ran in the competitive 5K and came in 2nd place in his age group.
