Gainesville among worst student apartment markets

When a panel of student housing executives was asked Tuesday to name the five worst student apartment markets in the country, one came immediately to mind: Gainesville.
That assessment was based on the apartment market being overbuilt, low occupancy rates, fewer advance leases for next fall and low rental rate increases, according to David Materna, who was in the audience at the National Apartment Association Conference in Las Vegas.
