WASHINGTON – June 9, 2011 – The National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) is honoring Alexandra Jackiw, CPM, CAPS, of Indianapolis, Ind. with its 2011 Apartment Career and Education (ACE) Award, which will be handed out in June at the 2011 NAA Education Conference and Exposition in Las Vegas.

“Alex has been a strong advocate for apartment industry education,” said Jeff Lowry, CAPS, NAAEI president. “She has been heavily involved in not only training others as an instructor for some of our courses but also in serving on the National Apartment Association’s education committees and task forces for more than 25 years.”

Jackiw, president of Buckingham Management Company, has been a member of the Indiana Apartment Association for more than 20 years and regularly serves as an instructor for NAAEI’s Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) program. She is an adjunct professor for the Residential Property Management programs at Virginia Tech and Ball State University. She served as NAA Education Institute President, Virginia Tech Residential Property Management Advisory Board president and is currently National Apartment Association Vice President and the president of the Ball State University Residential Property Management Advisory Board.

“Alex has a commanding knowledge of investment real estate management combined with excellent facilitation skills and an ability to connect with people,” said Maitri Johnson, CAPS, NAAEI vice president. “These abilities make Alex a powerhouse when it comes to teaching and inspiring people to achieve. In addition, she challenges each of her employees to earn industry designations and has been able to document improved financial performance at apartment communities that are managed by staff who hold NAAEI’s National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP), Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT) and Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) designations.”

Jackiw will be recognized as part of the 2011 NAA Education Conference and Exposition on June 24 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Conference Center in Las Vegas. The NAAEI Apartment Career and Education Awards recognize outstanding achievement in the field of apartment career development and/or contributions made to, or on behalf of NAAEI and its professional education interests and initiatives. The ACE Awards are given annually and are awarded to both volunteer leaders and professional educators.
