LAS VEGAS, June 29, 2009 - The National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) is pleased to announce that Susan E. Weston, CAM, CAPS, of Dallas, has been awarded the 2009 Apartment Career and Education (ACE) Award. Ms. Weston was recognized on Friday, June 26 at the General Session of the 2009 NAA Education Conference and Exposition held at the Mandalay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
"Sue is the epitome of dedication to industry training," said Alexandra Jackiw, CAPS, CPM, NAAEI President. "Sue launches herself whole-heartedly into every task requirement. She is vested in career development; as a professional trainer; as an expert on leadership development; and as a mentor to countless members of multi-housing professionals. Sue continues to give her life experience and skill beyond every reasonable expectation and without a doubt, she is deserving of our highest, most sincere accolades."
Ms. Weston is the Vice President of Learning and Development for Pinnacle in Dallas, where she guides all learning initiatives for Pinnacle’s 5,300 employees. Prior to her current position, Ms. Weston was Regional Education Director for Pinnacle’s Central Region, where she was responsible for education, staff development and implementing operational strategies for nearly 300 apartment communities.
Before joining Pinnacle in 2005, Ms. Weston served for three years as the National Apartment Association’s Director of Education.
With more than 30 years of experience in the multifamily industry, Ms. Weston is an active member of and volunteers for both the Greater Dallas and Tarrant County Apartment Associations in Texas and the Texas Apartment Association. On the national level, Ms. Weston volunteers her time to the National Apartment Association as a conference speaker, a member of multiple NAA and NAAEI committees, as a facilitator of NAAEI’s Advanced Instructor Training program, a member of the NAAEI Faculty and as a project grader for Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) candidates.
Susan Weston holds the NAA Education Institute’s Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) and Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) designations and a Texas Real Estate Broker’s license. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in German from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind.
The NAAEI Apartment Career and Education Awards recognize outstanding achievement in the field of apartment career development and/or contributions made to, or on behalf of NAAEI and its professional education interests and initiatives. The ACE Awards are given annually and are awarded to both volunteer and professional educators.
