Shannon Birtwell, NALP, Named 2009 National Leasing Professional of the Year

LAS VEGAS /June 29, 2009/ The National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) is pleased to announce that Shannon Birtwell, NALP, of Boston, has been awarded National Apartment Leasing Professional of the Year. Ms. Birtwell was recognized at the 2009 PARAGON Awards Ceremony Saturday evening at the Mandalay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
"Shannon and her colleagues represent the best and the brightest in the apartment industry," said Alexandra Jackiw, CAPS, CPM, NAAEI President. "Shannon has shown determination and a willingness to take on new leasing challenges in her career, both of which have proven Shannon worthy of the 2009 PARAGON Award. We are delighted to award Shannon with the 2009 NAA PARAGON Award for National Apartment Leasing Professional of the Year, the highest honor that our industry grants annually."
Ms. Birtwell joined WinnResidential in 2006 as a leasing consultant. In her tenure with WinnResidential, Shannon has a proven track record of successfully bringing two communities from zero percent occupancy to the 98 percent at the Watermark Cambridge in Cambridge, Mass. and 97 percent at the Mezzo Design Lofts in Charlestown, Mass. In her current position, Ms. Birtwell is the Leasing Manager for a luxury 550-unit community in the greater Boston area.
Ms. Birtwell completed her National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP) designation in 2007 and was awarded WinnResidential’s 2008 Leasing Consultant of the Year for the most apartments rented in the company, which manages more than 78,000 units nationwide. Most recently, Ms. Birtwell has also been recognized locally by her local apartment association in Boston as the Rental Housing Association’s 2008 National Apartment Leasing Professional of the Year.
In 2006, Ms. Birtwell earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Spanish from the University of Vermont, where she was also on the Dean’s List.
