Submission Deadline
NAAEI designate/certificate holder nominations must be received by March 19, 2010. Neither late nor incomplete submissions will be considered. All criteria required to support the nomination must be submitted by the deadline (See the NAAEI Designate/Certificate Holder PARAGON Nominee Criteria Checklist below.)
Award Announcement
NAAEI will acknowledge receipt of the nominations pending final determination of winners. The 2010 PARAGON winners will be announced on April 5, 2010.
NAAEI designate/certificate holder award winners will receive:
- Travel, lodging and registration expenses to attend the 2010 NAA Education Conference & Exposition
- Special recognition during the 2010 NAA Education Conference & Exposition
- A PARAGON award from Marc Rosenwasser, 2010 NAA Chairman of the Board
- Recognition in the September 2010 issue of units magazine
NAAEI Designate PARAGON Nominee Criteria Checklist:
- NAA PARAGON Awards Application – Complete the 2010 NAAEI PARAGON Designate/Certificate Holder Awards Application Cover (provided below).
- Local Affiliate Recommendation: 1 page maximum (10 points)
- Affiliate contact’s name, contact, title, address, phone, fax, e-mail
- Summary of nominee’s contributions to the affiliate and the industry
- Supervisor Recommendation: 1 page maximum (10 points)
- Supervisor’s name, contact, title, address, phone, fax, e-mail
- Summary of nominee’s contributions to the affiliate and the industry
- Supervisor’s Comments-Specific to Designation/Certificate Criteria: 1 page maximum (10 points)
- Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT)
- Maintenance of the physical asset
- Effective repair and maintenance expense controls
- Customer service and resident retention
- Team-ship and the role of team player
- Certified Apartment Manager (CAM)
- Effective supervision of the site team
- Sound financial management of the property
- Customer service and resident retention
- Enhancement of the asset value
- National Apartment Leasing Professional (NALP)
- Professional leasing and marketing practices
- Accurate and timely office administration
- Customer service and resident retention
- Team-ship and the role of a team player
- Professional Designate of the Year (Note: This nominee must be employed at a middle management position, managing a portfolio of communities.)
- Achievement of portfolio goals
- Team leadership and role modeling
- Effective management and execution of multiple priorities and assignments
- Development of industry personnel
- Nominee’s Qualifying Experience: 2 page maximum (10 points)
- List of professional designations/certificates and date received
- Listing of industry work experience with current job listed first
- Local, state and national apartment association involvement
- Continuing or other education attended in the last two years
- Civic or community activities in the last two years
- Nominee’s Statement: 1 page maximum (10 points)
- As a designate, what specific contributions do you feel you have made to your company and to your industry and for which you should be recognized?
Qualifications for NAAEI Designate/Certificate Holder Nominees
- All NAAEI designate award nominees must be NAAEI designates/certificate holders in good standing, have held a NAAEI designation/certificate for at least one year (at the time of the PARAGON Awards presentation), and have a minimum of two years of rental housing experience.
- Local affiliates with standing award programs may nominate their local winners by submitting their own nominating package - if it includes the criteria described in the NAAEI Designate/Certificate Holder PARAGON Nominee Criteria Checklist.
- Any qualified NAAEI designate/certificate holder may submit an application for endorsement by their local association.
- Designates/certificate holders nominated in previous years that did not win a PARAGON award, may be nominated again.
- PARAGON Award winners are not eligible for consideration again for the same award for five years.
Nomination Procedure
- Local NAA affiliates are responsible for monitoring, following-up, assembling and forwarding complete submissions for the PARAGON designate nominees they are submitting or endorsing.
- The authorized local affiliate representative must verify each nominee’s qualifications and sign the 2010 NAAEI PARAGON Designate/Certificate Holder Awards Application Cover.
Selection Committee
The NAAEI Nominating Committee determines the designate/certificate holder award winners.
Entries must be received by Friday, March 19, 2010.
